The Meaning Of Revelation

The Great Whore

Many books have been written about the prophecies in The Book of Revelation.  As an example of such books, the "Left Behind" book series has been very popular among those in this current "lukewarm" church age.  It is quite natural to expect people to be interested in those things which will soon come upon the Earth - including great judgments by God.

What seems rather strange though, is that such people do not generally become radical, sold-out Christians as a direct result of knowing what is just about to happen on the Earth.

To the contrary.  After reading such books  based on Bible prophesy, most so-called Christians do not appear to have been affected at all by this knowledge that they have just gained.  As in the days of Noah, horrendous judgments will soon to come upon the Earth, but these men and woman go about their daily lives as if nothing at all was going to happen.  It is as of they were all blind to the obvious implications of such Bible prophecies.

One of the most striking of these prophecies, (which is missed by virtually all who read it), is the description of The Great Roman Catholic Whore depicted in Revelation Chapter 17, (and elsewhere in the Book of Revelation).  The Book of Revelation clearly states the following in regard to this Great Whore:

"And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth." (Revelation 17:9)

When John wrote down The Book of Revelation, Rome ruled the then-known civilized world.  Rome, as is well known, sits on seven "hills", ("small mountains").  Therefore, anyone who thought about what John had written in his day, would have instantly realized that John was referring to the City of Rome.  The Roman Catholic Church is centered in the Vatican in Rome.

The Pope's and the cardinals' vestments, and buildings of the Vatican are well known for their red (scarlet) and purple colorings.  These are the colors which often adorn the Vatican hierarchy.  The Vatican is likewise decorated with large amounts of gold as well.

In fact, I once heard a Baptist preacher say that there is a Catholic Church in Rome with a ceiling encrusted with a layer of gold several inches thick across the entire ceiling.  There is also an abundance of gems in the Vatican as well.  The Bible says, in reference to the Great Whore of Rome, (also called "Babylon"):

"...that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls."  (Revelation 18:16)

It is clear that Rome was being spoken of when John speaks here of the "Great Whore".  Nevertheless, the idea that this "Great Whore" is the Roman Catholic Church is not at all a new teaching or doctrine.

Protestants and Baptists have believed for hundreds of years that the Great Whore is the Roman Catholic Church.  In fact, the Roman Catholic Church has murdered millions of Protestants and Baptists over the centuries, just as the Great Whore of Revelation will one day help the Antichrist to do.

The Bible says that this Great Whore will one day become the Antichrist's prostitute.  He will do with her as he will, (for a price, of course.)  This spiritually fornicating "Man of Sin", the Antichrist, will then order the beheading of all true Christians.

True Fundamentalist Baptists and other good Christians will certainly refuse to give in to the Antichrist and to his Great Roman Catholic Whore's demands.  These Christians will then have their heads cut off by the Antichrist and his Whore, just as so many Koran-believing Muslims now do to true Christians, Jews and others.  This Great Whore will then become "drunk" with the blood of these good Christians, having murdered so many of them by beheading:

"...and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands..." (Revelation 20:4)

If so many Baptists and other Christians have been murdered in the past by the Roman Catholic Church, and so many will be murdered in the future by beheading, then why do so many "Bapticatholic" Baptists, (and other deluded so-called "Christians") support the murderous Great Roman Catholic Whore?  How can this be?

This was a great personal shock to me.  A few years ago, I was  quite amazed to see many so-called Fundamental and Independent Baptists openly supporting "The Passion of The Christ", (the clearly Roman Catholic movie by anti-Semitic Mel Gibson).

I had expected such Christians to be standing outside of the movie theaters with large signs, shouting in protest, and holding up large crosses, or passing out tracts, so that some of the lost Roman Catholic sinners who were entering into the theaters might get saved.

Sadly, however, it appears that nothing of the sort actually took place.  In fact, some Fundamental Baptists and even Fundamentalist Baptists were actually supporting this Great Roman Catholic Whore propaganda piece.  We are indeed living in an age of great demonic deception and delusion by the Devil.  In fact, the Bible clearly says of these last Laodicean days:

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;" (1 Timothy 4:1)
